WHAT IS A GICLÉE?
A giclée print is a high-quality, fine art reproduction of an original artwork that is created using specialized inkjet printers. The name "giclée" comes from the French word "gicler" which means "to spray", referring to the process of using fine jets of ink to create the image. We use Epson UltraChrome® HDX 11-color archival pigmented ink along with the highest quality archival papers available. These inks are specifically formulated to be lightfast and resistant to fading, ensuring that the print will retain its color and clarity over time.

Epson UltraChrome HDX 11-color archival pigmented ink is a high-quality ink system that uses 11 different colors of pigment-based inks to produce fine art reproductions with a high level of color accuracy, detail and sharpness, as well as resistance to fading and water. It is designed to work with Epson's advanced printing technology to produce giclée prints that are archival quality.

WHAT IS FINE ART PAPER?
The fine art papers we use for archival giclée printing are specially designed to be acid-free and lignin-free, which helps to prevent yellowing and deterioration over time. These papers are available in a variety of textures and finishes that can mimic the look and feel of traditional art materials. The combination of high-quality inks and fine art papers, along with the precise printing technology, results in a final print that closely resembles the original artwork in terms of color, tone, and detail.

HOW DO I PRINT MY ARTWORK? DO YOU SCAN ARTWORK?
Yes, we professionally scan artwork and color correct to match the original. If you have a piece of flat artwork that you need to reproduce, the first and most important step is to have it scanned the right way with a high quality digital capture. We have a decade of artwork scanning using image captures.

Visit our ARTWORK SCANNING page for more information.

HOW WILL YOU PACKAGE MY PRINTS?
We package prints under 11x14 in archival sleeving with pH Neutral backing board. Prints over 11x14 are either packaged flat or rolled. We package flat prints with acid free tissue paper and other recyclable materials for museum-quality protection. Rolled prints are rolled with acid-free tissue paper and placed inside plastic sleeving. Packaging available while supplies last.

SUBMIT THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGE POSSIBLE:
When creating a giclée print, it is important to use an image file with a resolution of at least 300 dots per inch (dpi) in order to ensure that the final print is of high quality and accurately reproduces the original artwork. The reason for this is that the resolution of the image file directly affects the level of detail and sharpness that can be achieved in the final print. 300dpi JPG’s or TIFF's using AdobeRGB or sRGB color profile are required for the best quality prints. Minimum of 150dpi please. Print quality cannot be guaranteed with low quality image files.

7 business days. Turnaround may vary depending on volume.

WHY IS ARTWORK DOCUMENTATION IMPORTANT?

Artwork documentation is important for artists as it can help them:

  1. Promote and market their work: High-quality documentation of their artworks can be used to create promotional materials, such as brochures, websites, and social media posts, to help market their work to potential buyers and galleries.

  2. Establish provenance: By having a detailed record of their artworks, including information about when and where it was created, artists can establish the provenance of their work which can increase its value.

  3. Protect their rights: Proper documentation can help artists protect their intellectual property rights, by providing evidence of authorship and originality of the work.

  4. Document the development of their work: Artists can use documentation to track the development of their work over time and keep a record of their artistic process and evolution.

  5. Facilitate the sale and resale of their work: Detailed documentation of an artwork can make it easier to sell and resell the work, as it can provide potential buyers with the information they need to make an informed decision.

WHAT KIND OF ARTWORK CAN YOU DOCUMENT?
We’ve documented many types of artwork up to 96″ wide including artworks with shiny and metallic surfaces. We’ll document, or “scan”: Watercolor, acrylic, oil paintings, charcoal and pastel drawings, mixed media historic documents, quilts and textiles, etc. 3D artwork and exhibition photography are available also.

WHAT WILL I GET WITH THE SCAN?
You’ll get 300dpi hi-res TIFF files as well as a web sized jpg.  With a high-resolution scan, it is possible to produce large reproductions up to 2-3 times the size of the original while still maintaining the quality and detail of the original artwork. However, it's important to keep in mind that the larger the reproduction, the less detailed it may become.

WHAT IF MY ARTWORK IS FRAMED?
We can scan your artwork without removing it from the frame.

DO YOU SCAN ON LOCATION?
Yes, we are able to scan on location. Contact us for our offsite day rates in Oklahoma City.
